Neighborhood Watch – Sharing Information

Many of you have expressed discouragement and frustration with the criminal element in our community.  For years we have been telling you to keep logs of the foot traffic and vehicles, with tag numbers, that frequent the homes of suspected criminal activity; but we haven’t provided a sufficient way to relay that information to those who can use it to make a difference.  We now have a plan which we hope will move us forward in this fight.  If you have a home in your area that you feel is suspicious, please keep a log with the following information:

1. Dates and times of suspicious activity
2. Whether visitors were on foot or in vehicles
3. A description of the person and/or the vehicle
4. Tag numbers

You can then send this information directly to the Sheriff’s office and the States’ Attorney’s office at the following emails:

Det. Mike Moore: mooreml@co.cal.md.us

Asst. State’s Attorney Lisa Ridge: ridgelm@co.cal.md.us.

If you do not have access to email you can place your information in an envelope, address it to Det. Mike Moore and drop it off at the Sheriff’s office.  You can even drop it off here at the administrative office at 8285 Sycamore Road, and we will make sure it gets to the Sheriff’s office as quickly as possible.

This information is vital to the police and prosecutors if we hope to reduce criminal activity in the neighborhood.  Of course, the best option is still to call the Sheriff’s department while the activity is occurring.  If you do not want your name connected to the call, tell the dispatcher that you wish to remain anonymous.  Law enforcement wants nothing more than to work with us to resolve these situations and reduce the crime in our community.  But it’s going to take all of us working together and sharing information to see real progress.
